Deeper Into BasketballBy Shanya

Dear teacher,

I don’t always do my homework, but it’s not because I don’t want to. I don’t have time to sit and do your homework when I rater do the things I like and then go home and go to sleep. I  play basketball, and volleyball which usually take two days out of the week, Tuesdays and T

Thursday. Youth Radio also takes up my Wednesdays and Fridays. Then I have another activity on Monday that is called Girls Inc.

Through the week I’m out of the house from 6:30 in the morning to about 8 o’clock at night. When I come home I really don’t want to sit up for another 2-4 hours doing homework. I’m coming home, eating some food, taking a shower and going to sleep. That makes me behind on work but no one really has time for it. According to The Office of Institutional Research 6 out of 10 students participate in extracurricular activities. Student who are involved in extracurricular activities have to try harder to keep their grades up while students who don’t have those activities or work only have to focus on their studies.

This makes the students more tired and stressed. Teachers can’t expect students to keep their grade up, and still stay busy so you won’t get into trouble. At the end of the day you will either do your homework and get about half the amount of hours of sleep you need or you’re going to leave that binder and homework in your backpack. It is important to choose to do your homework first for your future but then again you’re tired and at this point you don’t care. If I don’t do my homework my grades will go down and I don’t want that because I don’t want to be working at McDonalds for the rest of my life. So instead I stay up or figure out a way to get that homework done so that I don’t have to flip burgers.
