Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved to read. I think that’s because before my dad died he always read to me every night. And, I loved every moment of it.
When I was in elementary school I basically read every book in our class library. Reading is my number one priority; it keeps me calm when nobody else can. Now, don’t get me wrong I have had struggles reading before.
One time, I found this book that I wanted to read so badly but I couldn’t because my reading level wasn’t all the way up. So to resolve my little problem I worked extra hard, so I could keep doing what I love.
Once I got my reading level up I decided that I didn’t want to read that book anymore and I found more interest in books that related to me. I love books that have to do with drugs, sex, gangs, and relationships. I relate to these types of books just because of where I’m from. I’m pretty sure you all know that Oakland, California has a lot of violence, drug dealing, and outrageous teenagers.
So, when I get a good book that I love to read it’s just fantastic, marvelous, I can’t even begin to explain how it feels. It’s funny because I can start reading at about 3 and look up at the time and it’s already 9.
But it’s very weird how people in my generation only read when they have to. Everyone should read because its helps put them in a good mind set. Like when I’m mad or upset I always go and pick up my book, it just relaxes me and helps me to calm my nerves.
And, I believe every girl in my generation needs a good book, once in a while.
