Oakland Museum Sound Project: “Gumbo”

As part of the renovation of the new Gallery of California Natural Sciences, the Oakland Museum of California asked six young people from Youth Radio to tell their personal stories about nature in the city. These media pieces are currently displayed in the Oakland section of the new gallery.


In this audio soundscape, Youth Radio poet and artist Shyra Gums compares Oakland’s diversity to a giant pot of gumbo, with beautiful, interesting ingredients.
