YRaw offers the inside (and lightly edited) scoop from Youth Radio’s training programs. In the introductory training, high school students produce a weekly radio show on YR Raw. It’s becoming a little easier for people to be proud of who they are even if it isn’t what people originally thought was “normal” or “attractive.” We’re changing what those words mean and I think that’s a move in the right direction.
For most of the girls that I got the opportunity to interview, African dance is an outlet for them. It is something that either ties them to their culture or simply gives them a space to feel safe and express their passion for dance.
You should just release whatever you feel needs to be gone in that moment and what needs to be uplifted in your brain.
