It’s becoming a little easier for people to be proud of who they are even if it isn’t what people originally thought was “normal” or “attractive.” We’re changing what those words mean and I think that’s a move in the right direction.
For most of the girls that I got the opportunity to interview, African dance is an outlet for them. It is something that either ties them to their culture or simply gives them a space to feel safe and express their passion for dance.
You should just release whatever you feel needs to be gone in that moment and what needs to be uplifted in your brain.
A lot of times folks have had so much struggle in their life that it’s hard to talk about those things. But what made artists such as Tupac Shakur so powerful was that he exposed what he went through.
