CHEF Program

Youth Radio’s Healthy Foods program is called CHEF — Creating Healthy Everyday Foods. It is staffed by our youth interns and production assistants .

Members of CHEF learn the basics of good nutrition, restaurant basics and healthy eating on a budget. They are responsible for the daily preparation of food items and all kitchen operations; including safety and sanitation, meal planning and preparation, and in house catering.

The CHEF program creates healthy snacks for about 40 youth and staff a day, and full dinner for up to 75 every Friday night here in our downtown Oakland facility.
