My grandmother, 63-year old Yukiko, transitioned from Japan to America in the 1960s. She had to readjust the rhythm of her entire life, leaving behind all she knew. I admire her valor and strength to take on such a challenge. Leaving your home and traveling to a far, distant land requires great bravery. I hope that one day I can have the same courage that she displayed during this time in her life.
